In our podcast episode we dissect Dr. Annette Bosworth’s (Dr. Boz) video “Ketosis Relieves Pain”. There is a lot of great information in this video, but there are two points that really stand out to me.
The first is how Dr. Boz equates pain relief to their monetary equivalents. She states that NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatories) offer about a nickels worth of pain relief, Steroids (cortisone/prednisone) offer from 25-53 cents worth of pain relief, and Ketones offer from 5 to 25 dollars’ worth of pain relief. That is a significant difference!
The second point that she makes that I found valuable was her description on how inflammation actually occurs. She talked about sugar, and how it attracts fluid. I’ve always equated high carbohydrate diets and excessive sugar intake to increased pain, but never made the direct connection between the sugar molecule and how it actually attracts fluid to itself. And since fluid accumulation cause inflammation, and inflammation causes pain, it all makes sense to me now. Regardless, enjoy the video and the podcast.
